Awww... I haven't even gotten teary-eyed until I read this! Of course, I waited for your birthday to to this (and to hope to glimpse a bday suit picture!). ;-)

Many thanks for gracing us with your presence over time. It's been quite a ride! And happy, happy Birthday!!

Went into the eye doctor my sophomore year in high school to see if I needed glasses. The optometrist ran me through the standard battery of, "This is one...this is two" type tests for an hour. He found lenses that matched the prescription as a test and slapped them on. Wow, was everything clearer! However, in that second, I flashed back to every horrible nerds-shoved-in-a-locker and bullying episode of "Different Strokes" from my childhood. "How's that look?" asked the doctor. I looked him straight in the eye and lied my ass off, "Nah, doesn't really make a difference." The suspicious look he shot my Dad almost burned a hole through the strip mall walls. Fast forward to junior year in college when I decided I would look cool in glasses. Suddenly, sitting in the back of the lecture hall wasn't just a sleeping strategy any longer. ;-)

Austin is in the same boat as Joseph I think. He hates drama and everything that goes along with it. I have noticed lately that he seems to be one of the few 15 year old boys that I know that doesn't curse. Why is it that kids find it so cool to do that?

The girls are much more ...emotional about it all. Several friends/girls that they have known for years are behaving in ways that aren't making mine real happy lately. Kailee seems to be the one noticing how good some of her friends make her feel while others seem to be surrounded with all the icky stuff.

I am pretty darn proud that my three seem to be noticing the way people behave and recognize how it makes other people feel. I try to surround myself with people who positively affect me. It is amazing to see that maybe some of that has rubbed off on my kids too.

Love it! I think the same thing is happening over here. Joseph is all in love and happy with that, but doesnt seem to have very many friends that are his age becuse they are all dumbasses. Jessika has had her first taste of dumb boys after a short lived boyfriend, and his ego. I worry all the time what are they going to do, and they seem to make the right choices following a good talk from thier father. lol...

I simply try to teach them about the concept of self respect and respect for others. The rest seems to follow in line.

Pfff...you've got a plan, which help IMMENSELY with training discipline. Versus saying, "I'll try to run 4 times a week." I swear that when I trained for my first half and full marathon, the schedule was like an a-hole coach. I cursed at the calendar, but reluctantly strapped on my shoes. The end result was worth every bitching moment I had. :-)

Happy to be one of your readers.

On Twitter today in the Blogher11 feed, there was a comment about meeting "lesser" bloggers. It made me a bit mad. Is a person with thousands of followers better then me and my few followers? No.

Grrr. Just makes me mad.

Ya know...you have to have some dark days to truly appreciate the sunny ones. It's a yin/yang, hot/cold, rich/poor sorta thing.

Now put a smile on your face and find all the positive things in the day!

:-D
